Maybe you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or your boss rejected your great idea or you just don’t feel like facing the day. Here are a few surefire ways to brighten your day. They don’t require much time and they aren’t complicated.
Watch Puppies or Kittens
While it unfortunately isn’t always possible to have a puppy or kitten on hand (I wish!), YouTube is an endless source of incredible videos.
Do the Sunshine Meditation (1 minute)
No matter where you are or what time of year you are, you can get a little sunshine on your face. Close your eyes and go to your favorite warm place. This could be the beach, the pool, the top of a mountain or the surface of mars (mars just requires a little extra imagination.) Now feel the sun hitting your face. Keep your eyes closed and recall the feeling that comes over us when we let the sun warm our face. It makes me smile just thinking about it. Take just one minute to call up this feeling and sit with it.

Put your feet in the grass
It is incredibly grounding to put your feet in the grass or the dirt. This connects you to the earth and brings you back into your body very quickly. Don’t fret if there is not grass or dirt readily accessible. Take off your shoes and socks, put them on the floor and close your eyes. Simply imagine that you are extending a long cord from your feet into the earth. Imagine that this cord goes all the way to the center of the earth. Relish this deep connection that you have to the earth.
Send love to someone who needs it
Whether it’s a friend, family member or acquaintance, or someone halfway across the world, set the intention that the universe (at your request) will send a little extra love, guidance, kindness or reassurance to someone who needs it.
